End of Summer Heartbreak
Fall is around the corner and soon we will be transitioning from fresh roses and light summer white wines to heavier whites and bolder reds. No need to rush though. Instead make the transition easier with the soft, approachable and food friendly Pinot Noir. It is a challenging grape to grow in most parts of the world and is often referred to as the “heart break grape”. At its best from Burgundy, France it is rare, expensive and a knock out. But good news can be found in New Zealand. With it’s relatively consistent climate, this tiny country produces consistently good Pinot Noir. Stoneleigh Pinot Noir from Marlborough is a real crowd pleaser.
Soft tannins, mild berry flavours and a light, dry finish make this a perfect aperitif and versatile food wine. Serve slightly chilled with salmon, roast tenderloin, creamy pasta dishes and goat cheese.
Cheers!
